Commingled


The following items can be commingled:

Plastics
  • #1 and #2 only
Cans
  • Soda, soup, beer, etc.
  • Aluminum foil
Glass
  • Clear, green, and brown
    • No ceramic glass
    • No dishes
    • No coat hangers
    • No metal objects

Mixed Paper


  • Newspaper
  • Junk mail
  • Paper bags
  • Paperback books
  • Packing paper
  • Telephone books
  • Paper board (i.e. cereal boxes)

Cardboard


  • Flattened corrugated cardboard boxes only

Green Bag


Items that cannot be recycled:
  • Food debris
  • Styrofoam
  • Dirty paper products
  • Waxed containers, i.e. milk containers
Note: Green bags are the green-colored, Town of Southampton garbage bags.

Anything that cannot be recycled should be put into your town green bag and place it into the household garbage trailer! If in doubt, please ask the attendant on duty for assistance.

Westhampton


Westhampton only accepts:
  • Green bags
  • Recyclables
  • Waste oil
  • No brush

Hampton Bays


Hampton Bays accepts:
  • Appliances
  • Bulk items
  • Electronic waste
  • Green bags
  • Recyclables
  • Metal items
  • Waste oil
  • No construction debris, tires, or propane tanks

North Sea Recycling Center


North Sea Recycling Center accepts:
  • Appliances
  • Bulk items
  • Electronic waste
  • Furniture
  • Green bags
  • Metal items
  • Propane tanks
  • Tires
  • Wood and construction debris
  • No concrete or asphalt

Sag Harbor


Sag Harbor only accepts:
  • Green bags
  • Recyclables
  • Waste oil
  • No brush or leaves

Helpful Facts


  • North Sea and Hampton Bays are open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Westhampton and Sag Harbor are closed Wednesdays, but are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday
  • Christmas trees are accepted free of charge from January 1 thru January 31 (limit 3)
  • Construction and Demolition Area and Leaf and Brush Area close at 3:30 p.m.
    • No Grass Clippings
    • Brush must be 3 inches or less in diameter
    • Self-haul resident free cleanup periods for Brush: April 15 to May 31, and November 15 to December 31
Please do not leave your garbage or recyclables at the gate when the facility is closed.
