Many effective waste reduction techniques can be adopted by the individual.

• In the office environment, double-sided copying, email use, and other paper-use reduction techniques can minimize waste production.
• At home, choosing longer-life products, bulk packaging, and products with less consumer packaging, when appropriate, can reduce the amount of garbage generated.
