With Tiana Bay and the Atlantic Ocean as a classroom, students dive deep into the biological, ecological, physical, chemical and geological processes that govern our oceans and planet Earth. Specific topics include the marine biology of local organisms, food web dynamics, water chemistry and water quality testing, oceanographic sampling techniques, waves and tides, exploration of local marine habitats and scientific experiments. In this class, we will explore ways that yoga can help heal injuries. We will explore alignment in many yoga poses and spend time focusing on breath and meditation. The first hour we will practice various poses, warming up the body and going deeper. The last 15 minutes are focused on breath work, releasing tension and mediation.

Students are taught to challenge themselves, build self confidence, meet new friends, reduce stress, and learn strategy & discipline through the game of Chess. This program is free and open to grades K - 12.

If you are in grades 7th through 12th and interested in planning trips and events, doing community service projects, and making friends with students from other schools, then sign up for YAC! The Southampton Youth Bureau is looking for new members to join its Youth Advisory Committee, (YAC) for 2019 – 2020. As a YAC member, you can help make a difference in your community. Community service projects may include leaf raking for senior citizens, hosting a clothing drive, participating in fundraisers for other youth organizations, meeting with elected officials in Albany for youth causes, or other activities that can make a difference in our community. Youth Advisory Committee is a great way to get involved and to earn community service credit hours during the school year. Meetings are held every other Tuesday beginning September 24th 2019 at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Transportation is available upon request.
