Great East End Clean-Up to be held April 30 and May 1

The Great East End Clean-Up, an effort to remove litter and debris from public areas throughout Southampton Town, will take place on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. Each spring hundreds of residents of all ages participate in the program to clean-up locations such as roadsides, trails, parks, and beaches. Last year over 750 volunteers removed over 25 tons of litter and debris, including 2.5 tons of metal that was sorted for recycling, from beaches, parks, trails, and roadsides.  This year Councilwoman Christine P. Scalera will be joining the Moriches Bay Project and over 30 volunteers on April 30th to clean up areas in the Westhampton Dunes.

“The Great East End Clean Up has become an annual tradition that many of our residents look forward to and I am excited to continue this annual event for our Town and to be joining the Moriches Bay Project this year,” said Councilwoman Scalera.

For more information, or to register, please visit the Southampton Town website at www.southamptontownny.gov and follow the link for the Great East End Clean-Up on the homepage, or contact Rick Hodgson at (631) 283-5210.  Individuals as well as groups are welcome to sign up.  The deadline for registration is Monday, April 25.
