PRESS RELEASE December 18, 2017Contact: Supervisor’s office(631) 283-6055 Connie Conway
A groundbreaking ceremony was held December 18, 2017 at 9am for “Tuckahoe Woods” a new project that will create two workforce housing units in Tuckahoe that will become part of the Town’s new Lottery system for eligible homeowners.
The homes are being built by the Southampton Business Alliance Housing Initiative Corporation on property donated by the Town of Southampton. When completed, the owners of the homes will be selected by lottery. The properties are located on Moses Lane and Magee Street in Southampton.
Each home will feature 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full basements, exceed the Town of Southampton energy standards and will be priced in the low $300,000 range. The new homeowners will be selected by public lottery with oversight by the Town’s office of Housing and Community Development and administered by the Long Island Housing Partnership.
Applicants must meet income and employment requirements and comply with resale restrictions. “Anyone interested in this opportunity should register on the Town website,” said Housing and Community Development Director Diana Weir. Visit http://www.southamptontownny.gov/housingdivision for more information.
“We will notify those who have registered when the applications are available and announce the date of the lottery,” said Weir.
Southampton Business Alliance Housing Initiative Corporation Chairman Tony Panza said, “We’re delighted to make a meaningful difference as we complete these projects.”
Southampton Supervisor Jay Schneiderman added, “We applaud the Southampton Business Alliance for their continued efforts on behalf of working families in the Town of Southampton. We plan to bring forth more projects like this with a goal of increasing the availability of attainable homes for qualified applicants in the near future.”
The Homes are expected to be ready for occupants by the Spring of 2018.
