Christine P. Scalera, Councilwoman
Greener Southampton

September, 2017

Dear Local Landscape Company:

This past June, in partnership with Quiet Communities and the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA), I worked with the Towns Parks Department to create the first AGZA Green Zone on the East Coast. A Green Zone, certified by the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA), is a defined area of land, such as a park, hospital, or school campus, where routine maintenance is performed quietly and emissions-free using electric equipment and manual techniques.  For more information, you may access the Greener Southampton page on the Town’s website on the following link: http://www.southamptontownny.gov/477/Greener-Southampton

We have purchased a fleet of state-of-the-art electric-powered maintenance equipment for use at the AGZA Green Zone located at the East Quogue Village Green that will allow it to achieve the same aesthetic in a healthier, more sustainable manner.

As a local landscape company operating within the Town of Southampton, you are invited to participate in a demonstration of the electric-powered maintenance equipment by the Towns Parks Department on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the East Quogue Village Green, 630 Montauk Highway, East Quogue (rain-date Wednesday October 4 at 9 am).

Kindly respond to Jamie Bowden in the Town Council office at 631-287-5745, or via email at jbowden@southamptontownny.gov.  We look forward to your participation in this important event to showcase the Towns electric equipment and operations.
