Canoe Place Chapel

COMPLETED 2019

Canoe Place Chapel

This small blue and white building located on Canoe Place Road in Hampton Bays has moved several times over the years but has found a new home. It once served as a church and a meeting house for the Shinnecock Nation and was known as the “Indian Meetinghouse”. Local historians have concluded that the building was once part of a Congregational Church where the Rev. Paul Cuffee preached to the Shinnecocks. Renovations are now complete and the Church can now be used for weddings and other events. Landscaping is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2019.
