Maritime Park

Maritime Park Canal

This property is located along the Shinnecock Canal, adjacent to the Parks and Recreation Department in Hampton Bays. The Town has removed an old fence, improved landscaping and opened it up so that visitors gain easier access to the canal.  The Town proposes to make additional improvements funded in part by a $300,000. community benefit payment made by the developer of C.P.I.  An additional amount of $220.000. in CDBG funds will also support these improvements.

In June 2018, a design and architectural contract was awarded to Araiys Design to create the community park.  The firm immediately presented some ideas to the Town Board in a work session and worked with the community through polling their preferences for what they envisioned for the Park.  Using those ideas, Araiys is expected to present 70% of their plans to the Town in November 2018.
