High school students from local schools work together to hold real trials for juvenile offenders, where all the facts of the case are heard and the jury decides on a disposition, or “sentence,” for the offender to repair the harm they have caused to the victims. Cases range from trespassing, driving without a license, and underage drinking to harassment, possession, and theft, among others. Students in grades 9–12 living or attending school in the Town of Southampton can participate. General Youth Court meetings are held on Mondays from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM at the Southampton Town Justice Court, 32 Jackson Avenue. For more information or to register, please call (631) 702-2425 or visit www.southamptontownny.gov/ybpayment.
