Beginning in  2021,  town beachgoers will have the option to purchase their local resident parking permits online. Starting Wednesday, March 3, Southampton Town’s website will debut an online pre-season application as well as the mail in application offered in years past, streamlining the process to be both paperless and contactless.

“Due to the large volume of activity in our office during the summer months, online applications will be a pre-season courtesy,” said Town Parks Director Kristen Doulos. Those looking to beat the lines and save time can visit www.southamptontownny.gov/BEACHPERMITS, enter the requested information, and upload their proof of residency. “Once verified and approved,” she added, “a seasonal pass will be sent via U.S. Mail.”

Online, pre-season sales are expected to run through May 15.  Applicants who submit complete and correct documentation by May 1 can expect permits to be mailed no later than May 15.  Applications received after May 15 may take up to six to eight weeks for processing.

Patrons who prefer to buy a permit in-person may do so at the Parks and Recreation Department, located at 6 Newtown Road in Hampton Bays. A walk-up window will be available on weekdays from 8:30am to 4:00pm, beginning Tuesday, April 6; and at all attended beach locations beginning Saturday, May 29.

For more information, please visit the Parks and Recreation Department’s website at www.southamptontownny.gov/parksrec or call (631) 728-8585 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm.
