Councilwoman Julie Lofstad is pleased to announce that the Town of Southampton has distributed about 400 discount cards to our active military members and veterans, and has over 20 local businesses participating in the program.
“We have gotten a very positive response from both the businesses and our military members,” said Councilwoman Lofstad, liaison to the Veterans Affairs Committee. “Southampton Town is grateful to our military members, past and present, for their sacrifices and this is one way we can all say, thank you.”
The Active Military and Veteran Discount Program is an initiative between the Town’s Veterans Affairs Committee and local merchants to recognize the service and sacrifices made by our service men and women. Under the program, veterans discharged under honorable conditions or active members of the military will receive an identification card that can be used at participating businesses. The merchants who participate agree, at their discretion, to accept and honor the card by providing holders with a discount or benefit on purchases or services, to be determined by each merchant.
Active Military and Veterans can obtain a card by mail or in person through the Town Clerk’s Office located in Town Hall in Southampton or at the Hampton Bays Annex.
