Habitat for Humanity of Long Island to Collect Reusable Items at North Sea Transfer Station until Wednesday, November 23rd

Councilman John Bouvier announced today that Wednesday, November 23rd will be the last day to drop off items at the North Sea Transfer Station for the Habitat for Humanity of Long Island Reuse Program for this year.  The program will resume in March of 2023.

“I am very happy with the response to this program,” said Councilman Bouvier.  “Over the last 2 years, we’ve collected many usable items that have been kept out of landfills and sold to help support affordable housing efforts.”

The Town of Southampton and Habitat for Humanity of Long Island joined together for the second year of the Partnership to Reuse Program at the North Sea Transfer.  Town residents were able to drop off new or slightly used furniture, appliances, kitchen cabinets and building materials that were then resold at the Long Island ReStore in Ronkonkoma, with proceeds supporting affordable housing projects.

The Habitat for Humanity Reuse truck will be collecting donations at the North Sea Transfer Station on Wednesdays from 10am-2pm, until November 23rd.  Commercial entities and contractors can participate by contacting Habitat for Humanity of Long Island directly to arrange for off-site pick-ups.

For more information on the Residential Reuse Program, contact Councilman John Bouvier at 631-287-5745 or Courtney Collins at 631-459-3964 or courtney@habitatliny.org.
