Long Island Waste and Materials Management is at a critical operation for government officials to provide safe and responsible services to residents in an efficient, sustainable and cost effective manner.
Stony Brook University, the Towns of Babylon, Brookhaven and Islip have been working with the NYSDEC on executing a $250,000 grant to develop recommendations on a number of projected solid waste management issues including but not limited to:
- MSW/Ash Reduction, Recycling, and Disposal
- C&D Reduction, Recycling, and Disposal
- Transportation of Materials within and out of Long Island.
Research and engagement focusing on Climate Action Strategies, Disadvantaged Communities and Economics, Regulatory and legal elements will be included in each of these areas of focus.
