
Get ready to rock the park when some of the region’s top bands perform at Good Ground Park this summer. The 2018 schedule for “Good Ground On Stage” also includes Movie Nights and Shakespeare in the Park.
The public is invited to attend these free events at the beautiful sunken amphitheater at Good Ground Park, located at 9A Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays. Natural seating for the stage in the ground is plentiful but you are always encouraged to bring a lawn chair, or a blanket, and have a picnic in the park during these events.
The season starts off with a Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 30 from 10 am to 11:30 am. Kicking off our concert series this summer will be “Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks” on Thursday, June 28 from 7 to 9 pm, co-sponsored by the Southampton Superior Officers Association.
Bring the family to Movie Night Thursday, July 12 at 8:30 pm for the viewing of “Independence Day”, sponsored by the Hampton Bays Library and the Southampton Youth Bureau. Then go back in time for music from the 70s on Saturday, July 14 from 7 pm to 9 pm featuring “Feelin’ Groovy”, co-sponsored by the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons.
On Thursday, July 19 from 7 pm to 9pm dance to the sounds of the “Earth, Wind and Fire Tribute Band”, sponsored by the Southampton Cultural Center. Then see some of the East End’s future stars at the Annual Summer Youth Concert on Friday, July 20, from 6:30 pm -9:00 pm, co-sponsored by the Youth Bureau.
Be sure to reserve the date of Thursday, July 26 when the very popular “Nancy Atlas Project” takes the stage from 7 pm to 9 pm, co-sponsored by the Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce.
The “Hoodoo Loungers” start us off for the month of August when they play Good Ground On Stage Thursday, August 2 from 7 pm to 9 pm. For theater fans, we have the debut of “Shakespeare in the Park” on Monday, August 6 from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Movie Night returns Thursday, August 9 from 8 pm to 9:45 pm with “Shrek”. The Youth Bureau holds an “Open Mic Night” on Friday, August 10 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm and then we end the summer concert series with a performance by one of the East End favorites, “Mambo Loco,” co-sponsored by the Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce.
Good Ground Park also offers a wooded hiking trail, picnic areas, playground, restrooms and convenient access to the park from Main St. through the CANNUSCIO TRAIL (24 W. Montauk Hwy).
