Great East End Clean-Up Rescheduled for October 3rd and 4th
For over a decade, the Great East End Clean-Up has cleaned up litter and debris from public areas throughout Southampton Town. Due to COVID-19, this popular event was postponed, but will be taking place on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th. The clean-up has usually taken place each spring and has attracted hundreds of residents of all ages to clean-up locations such as roadsides, trails, parks, and beaches. In certain years, hundreds of volunteers have collected over 50 tons of garbage throughout the town.
Councilman Martel will be participating with residents and organizations such as the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program. “This is my first year coordinating the Great East End Clean-up and it’s great to be a part of this community driven event,” said Councilman Martel. “No matter where you live in Southampton, we all live near parklands or waterways that need our help in keeping them clean”.
