The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau will be offering several programs and activities at the Flanders Youth Center, 655 Flanders Road.

Comedy Classes –

The Southampton Youth Bureau will be sponsoring Comedy Classes on Tuesdays from 4:00pm – 5:30pm at the Flanders Youth Center, 655 Flanders Road beginning Tuesday, April 5th. This 6 class program will be conducted by Dr. Bernie Furshpan, Executive Director of the NY Hysterical Society. Participants will learn how to write jokes and funny stories, build confidence and overcome stage fright, turn frustration into humor, change situational moods and outcomes, and perform using different stage techniques. At the end of the program, participants will be a part of a performance using what they learned. This program is open to grades 3 – 8 and the registration fee is $20. Spring Break Schedule -

Monday, April 18th: Pizza & a Movie at the Flanders Youth Center from 6:00pm – 8:30pm. Open to grades K – 8.

Tuesday, April 19th: Trip to Elizabeth Morton Wildlife Refuge in Sag Harbor from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Open to grades K – 8.

Wednesday, April 20th: Trip to YMCA Pool in East Hampton from 12:00pm – 4:30pm. Admission is $5 – Bring a beach towel! Open to grades K – 8.

Thursday, April 21st: Trip to Skyzone Trampoline Park in Mt. Sinai from 3:30pm – 9:00pm. Admission is $35 – Bring extra money for food stop. Open to grades 3 – 8.

Friday, April 22nd: Trip to Greenport Roller Rink from 5:30pm – 9:30pm. Admission is $13 – Bring extra money for food stop. Open to grades 3 – 8

Discovery Club “Life On Other Planets

Join the Southampton Youth Bureau's Discovery Club for a STEAM session of Life on Other Planets! Learn how life can adapt to different environments through activities, science experiments, field trips, and arts & crafts. Discovery Club is held every Wednesday from 4:30pm - 6:00pm (March 16th - June 1st) at the Flanders Youth Center, 655 Flanders Road. Program is open to grades K - 4 and the cost is $50 for residents and $60 for non-residents. Pre-registration is required and space is limited! For more information, please call (631) 702-2425

Band Applications Now Available for the 19th Battle of the Bands -

Band applications are now available for the Southampton Youth Bureau’s 19th Battle of the Bands. This year’s competition will be held on Friday, June 10th (Rain Date: Friday, June 17th) from 8:00pm – 11:00pm at Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays. All applications and demo music must be received by 4:00pm on Friday, May 13th 2022 and can be sent or dropped off to: BATTLE OF THE BANDS – YOUTH BUREAU, Southampton Youth Bureau, 655 Flanders Road, Flanders, NY 11901. Band applications and demo music may also be emailed to Peter Strecker at pstrecker@southamptontownny.gov. Qualifying bands must have at least one high school student who resides in the Town of Southampton, and a band must consist of a minimum of 3 performing musicians. "New Beginnings” Creative Arts Contest -

The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is now accepting submissions for their Creative Arts Contest! This year’s theme is “New Beginnings”. Artists are encouraged to share their interpretation through art of what a new beginning could look like. The contest is open to students in grades 5 – 12 who reside or attend school in the Town of Southampton. Artwork will be judged on quality, creativity, and presentation based on the artist’s interpretation of “New Beginnings”. All art entries (maximum of two entries per artist) must be dropped off at the Southampton Youth Bureau’s main office at the Flanders Youth Center, 655 Flanders Rd by Friday, April 1st. Participating artists are invited to bring their families and friends to the final exhibit at the Parrish Art Museum, 279 Montauk Hwy on Friday, May 6th from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Prizes will be awarded to the “Best Art Piece” in the categories of photography, graphic art, sculpture, and free-hand. For more information, please call (631) 702-2425
