Youth Advisory Committee

The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is recruiting new members to join their Youth Advisory Committee for the 2022 - 2023 school year! If you are in 7th – 12th grade and interested in planning trips and events, doing community service projects, and making friends with students from other schools, then sign up for YAC! As a YAC member, you can make a difference in your community.  Community service projects may include leaf raking for senior citizens, hosting a clothing or toy drive, participating in fundraisers for other youth organizations, meeting with elected officials for youth causes, or other activities that can make a difference in our community.  Youth Advisory Committee is a great way to get involved and to earn community service credit hours during the school year. Meetings will be held every other Tuesday from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

The first official meeting begins October 11th at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue. Pre-registration is required! For more information or to register, please call (631) 702-2425 or visit www.southamptontownny.gov/YBpayment.

Youth Court

Southampton Town’s Youth Court is a great way to earn community service credits and build your college resume! High school students from local schools work together to hold real trials for juvenile offenders, where all the facts of the case are heard and the jury decides on a disposition, or “sentence”, for the offender to repair the harm that they have caused to the victims.  Cases range from trespassing, driving without a license, underage drinking to harassment, possession, and theft - among others.  Students in grades 9 - 12 living or attending school in the Town of Southampton can participate.  Those who are interested in becoming an attorney, improving public speaking skills, learning about the justice system, building their college/job resume or just enjoy community service are invited to join.

General youth court meetings are held from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at the Southampton Town Justice Court, 32 Jackson Ave – Transportation may be available upon request. New member training will be held on Monday, October 17th! For more information or to register, please call (631) 702-2425 or visit www.southamptontownny.gov/YBpayment.
