1. How can I get my child involved in community service opportunities?

The Youth Bureau publishes a Guide to Community Service opportunities that is available online. You can also get this guide mailed to you by calling 631-702-2425 and leaving your name and address.

2. How can I apply for Southampton Town Human Services and Cultural Arts and Recreational grant?

The Southampton Town Board provides annual funding for Human Services grants and Cultural Arts and Recreational grants. Applications are generally available in September, and are usually submitted in November. Funds are typically awarded in January. Please call 631-702-2423 for further information.

3. What are the requirements for a Southampton Town Human Services grants and Cultural Arts and Recreational grant?

Applicants must be insured and certified 501c(3) nonprofit organizations that provide a viable service to Southampton Town residents.

Applicants must submit proof of not-for-profit 501c(3) status. Human Service grants refer to social services, employment, counseling and mental health, health care services, child care and educational services. Cultural Arts and Recreational Grants encourage, but are not limited to, visual and performing arts programs and presentations, environmental efforts, and sports or recreational activities.

4. Does the Town of Southampton have a community advocacy program?

Town residents are provided guidance and advocacy in applying for financial assistance available from county, state, and federal programs, such as Temporary Assistance, HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), and Social Security Disability. Residents are interviewed by the community advocate who will identify appropriate programs and help with application materials.

The Community Advocate is available Tuesday and Wednesday, but please call ahead to schedule an appointment.

5. Does the Town of Southampton have a Domestic Violence Victims Advocate ?

Domestic Violence Victims Advocates provide crisis intervention counseling, help petition for orders of protection, and accompany victims to court. Advocates act as liaisons between the victim and the criminal justice system and help individuals understand basic legal proceedings. Referrals are made to appropriate agencies for additional needs. The Town’s Domestic Violence Advocates are located in the court offices on Jackson Avenue in Hampton Bays.

6. What is Honor Flight Long Island?

Honor Flight Long Island this program flies WWII veterans to see their WWII memorial in Washington DC at no cost to the vet. To be eligible he/she must be a WWII vet who has NOT seen the memorial previously. For additional information about Honor Flight LI please call 631-702-2423.

7. How do I sign up for Honor Flight LI? (Veteran and Guardian)

Veteran and Guardian applications are available online or by calling 631-702-2423.

8. How often does Honor Flight LI schedule trips?

Honor Flight schedule trips in the fall and spring, based on available funds and how many vets are on the waiting list. We fly down and back in one day out of Long Island MacArthur Airport, always on a Saturday.

9. What Southampton Town Beaches and other facilities are handicap accessible?

Check the link to this Parks and Recreation publication. Beaches are on page 5 and include Pikes Beach in Westhampton, Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays, and Foster Memorial Beach in Noyac. Each is listed as accessible and each has beach wheelchairs available.
