1. Are Town Hall offices open for Permits?

All Town Hall offices are closed to the public. We are accepting 4 X 4, Boat Ramp and Lake Agawam Seasonal permit Applications via the Trustees online ePermitting Portal at https://epermits.southamptontownny.gov/ If you wish to mail in your permit Application please allow 10 - 14 days to process your Application. There is also a red “drop box” located at the front entrance to Town Hall.

2. How do I obtain a Recreational Shellfish License if Town Hall is closed?

Please e-mail a copy of your completed Application http://www.southamptontownny.gov/489/Forms-Applications, driver’s license and proof of residency to the Trustees’ General Email at towntrustees@southamptontownny.gov

3. I am experiencing ePermitting problems such as uploading documents, opening an account, etc. what should I do?

4. Will the Trustees honor my 2019 Permits/Licenses until I am able to renew either online or through the mail?

Yes, there is a grace period in place until June 15, 2020 for all permits. 

5. How do I file a Complaint or report a Code Violation?

You may file a Complaint or report a Code Violation via the Town’s SOS Online Complaint System at https://gis.southamptontownny.gov/SOS/

7. What times of the year are Trustee permits needed?

Permits are needed all year long, January through December.

8. How do I prove residency to obtain a Trustee permit?

The resident must provide a tax bill in their name, or their valid NYS Drivers’ License with a Southampton Town street address, or three utility bills in the their name
(one from a year ago, one for a winter month, and one from the present, per the Town Code.)

9. What do I need to bring for a 4×4 or ramp permit?

12. I want to build a dock off my property, what do I need to file?

Application, updated surveys, drawing to scale of the proposed project and photos of the site. Also, applicable application fees. Download an Instructions for Applications for Permits for

13. What is the season for the pump out boats?

The Pump Out program runs from Memorial Day through October 15, or when funds run out. There are currently six boats that work out of Mill Creek, Cold Spring, Westhampton, North Sea, Hampton Bays and Sag Harbor. Recreational boaters in need of waste disposal need only to contact them on marine radio CH 73 and arrange a meeting place.

14. Will the Trustees come to my property to give advice for my project?

Yes, the Trustees make it a point to be available for any questions. Just call the office to speak with the Trustee for your area. Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 631-287-5717.
