Part Time Office Assistant - Community Preservation

The Town is looking for a Part Time Office Assistant in our Community Preservation Department.

Typical work activities include, but are not limited to:

Greeting and assisting members of the public with general questions regarding status of Acquisitions, First Time Home Buyers’ Exemptions, I/A Septic Rebates; and Stewardship and Enforcement Matters, providing any requested/required forms.

Creating and Maintaining Acquisition E=files, hard Files and general office filing.

Prepare files for Town Archiving and retrieving files from Town Archives.

Assisting Associate Administrator with the tracking of Appraisal Requests, proposals and monitoring deliverables for CPF matters.

Maintaining Acquisition Status Spreadsheet.

Compiles invoice packages for submission and delivery.

Maintains office supplies, and printers.

Opens mail to date stamp and distribute.

Answers phones, makes copies, scans and shreds documents.

Town Hall deliveries and pickups.

Performs other routine clerical duties as required

20 hours a week. $22 an hour

Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.

Maintenance Mechanic I - Community Preservation

The Town is seeking a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic I for our Community Preservation Department located in Hampton Bays, NY.

Work will include but not be limited to maintenance and repair of CPF owned facilities and properties. Assists higher-level maintenance mechanics, and performs a variety of tasks in craft areas such as plumbing, masonry, carpentry, electricity, machine operations, and equipment maintenance. Use of hand tools and power tools commonly used in the particular craft. Incumbents are expected to exhibit some initiative and independent judgement.

CIVIL SERVICE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Either:

(a) Completion of one (1) year of vocational education courses in a vocational school program, or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas; or,

(b) One (1) year of experience in minor maintenance or repair work; or,

(c) A satisfactory equivalent combination of the above education or training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

CDL Grade B must be acquired within 6 months of hire.

$57, 858.48 annual salary plus full benefits package

Environmental Facilities Manager

The Town is accepting applications for an Environmental Facilities Manager position. This is an administrative position in the Waste Management Division of our Municipal Works Department.

The Environmental Facilities Manager will perform highly responsible administrative and supervisory duties in planning and directing the overall activities of four (4) environmental facilities. Supervision is exercised over a large staff through crew leaders. Work is performed under the general direction of the Town Engineer.

The successful candidate will manage the daily operations and planning of the Town’s four (4) transfer stations; to include the three (3) yard waste/food scrap facilities and North Sea Landfill. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Assigning and managing staff, directing operations, fleet management, coordination of recycling efforts, ensuring adherence to Town policies in the operation of the facilities, overseeing and ensuring the facilities’ compliance with state and local regulatory and reporting requirements. Preparation and overseeing of the Division budget to include contracts and purchasing.

The manager will also be required to be able to communicate effectively with both the public and public officials, and will have a critical role in the development of recommendations of environmentally sensitive and fiscally sound practices for recycling and waste disposal.

*This is a Civil Service position that will require an eventual exam.*

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

OPEN COMPETITIVE

a) Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and four (4) years of experience in the operation of a landfill or a transfer station, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or,

b) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and eight (8) years of experience in the operation of a landfill or a transfer station, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or,

c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of a) and b).

NOTE: Education will not be substituted for the two (2) years of supervisory experience.

The annual salary is $115,000 plus full benefits package.

DIRECTOR OF TRAFFIC SAFETY

The Town of Southampton is seeking a Director of Traffic Safety. The Director of Traffic Safety is an administrative role that works under the Municipal Works Department.

This position will direct and oversee the work of the Town’s Traffic Safety Office and the Town’s Fleet Management and Transportation Division. Work will include but not be limited to representing the Town’s involvement in regional alternative public transportation initiatives to encourage vehicle volume reduction; direct or assist with studies evaluating existing and possible new public transportation initiatives and impact on road traffic conditions. Studies regarding roadway conditions, capacity, volume, speed, accidents, safety, etc.

Minimum requirements for the Director of Traffic Safety position are either:

a) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field, and six (6) years of experience in the field of traffic engineering, highway planning, transportation planning or the administration of traffic safety programs; at least two (2) years of this experience must have been in an administrative capacity; or,

(b) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field, and eight (8) years of experience in traffic engineering, highway planning, transportation planning, or the administration of traffic safety programs; at least two (2) years of this experience must have been in an administrative capacity.

(c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

Annual Salary - $120,000 plus full benefit package.

This is a Civil Service position which will require an examination administered by Suffolk County.
