This Friday, April 18 at 9PM through Sunday, April 20 at 4AM, buses will replace trains between Babylon and Montauk Stations as we carry out important infrastructure upgrades. This work will improve safety and reliability along the line, ensuring a smoother and more dependable experience for all riders in the future.
To accommodate this effort, bus service will operate in three travel zones, making local stops within each zone and running non-stop to and from Babylon. Please note that local travel between stops in different zones will not be possible during this time. The zones are:
- Bay Shore through Patchogue
- Bellport through Southampton
- Bridgehampton through Montauk
Trips may take up to 75 minutes longer than usual, so we encourage folks to plan ahead and consider using the Ronkonkoma Branch as an alternative where possible. For updated schedules, please refer to the TrainTime app or visit mta.info/schedules.
- The last eastbound trains will depart Friday night at 8:36PM from Babylon and 9:07PM from Speonk. Regular service resumes early Sunday with the 4:31AM train from Speonk.
This is supporting the necessary grade crossing renewal at Snake Hollow Road Crossing in Bridgehampton and rail installation across the Montauk Highway bridge in Eastport, projects that enhance both safety and service quality. Please be aware that Snake Hollow Road will be closed from Friday at 11PM to Saturday at 11PM, with local access only. There will be no access across the crossing. We recommend using Buffer Lane as an alternative. At Montauk Highway will have a single-lane closure, located between Eastpond Lane and Private Road, from 11PM Friday to 11AM Saturday.
